Poe Valley State Park
Nature
Poe Valley State Park is a 620-acre park in an isolated central Pennsylvania valley, surrounded by Bald Eagle State Forest and centered on the 25-acre, man-made Poe Lake. Developed during the Great Depression by the Civilian Conservation Corps, the park and lake grew from wider work in the surrounding forest that included road and bridge building, reforestation, stream cleaning, and fire prevention. Today the lake anchors fishing, swimming, boating with non-powered or electric-motor craft, and winter recreation. The park also serves campers, picnickers, hunters, and trail users, linking visitors to a broader network of forest routes and seasonal outdoor activities.
