Esplanade Mountain is a 2,301-metre summit in Jasper National Park, Alberta, in the Canadian Rockies, rising in the Athabasca Valley about 20 kilometres north of Jasper and standing plainly visible from Highway 16 and the Canadian rail line. Morrison P. Bridgland, a Dominion Land Surveyor who named many peaks in Jasper Park and elsewhere in the Rockies, named it in 1916 for its long, flat top, which resembled an esplanade; the Geographical Names Board of Canada made the name official in 1956. Its nearest higher neighbour is Cliff Mountain to the west, runoff drains to the Athabasca River, and climbing is usually best from June to September.
