San Joaquin Mountain is a prominent high Sierra peak near June Lake in Mono County, rising on the Sierra Crest in eastern California. It ranks as the twenty-sixth highest mountain in the state and is the highest point along about twenty-five miles of the crest. Formed of quartz latite erupted during the Pliocene, it reflects the volcanic history of the range. Its location on the crest makes it especially commanding in the surrounding landscape, and it is commonly climbed as a day hike from Minaret Summit.
