Carson Peak is a prominent 10,908-foot granite summit in the northern California Sierra Nevada, within the Ansel Adams Wilderness and Inyo National Forest. Rising above the June Lake Loop near June Mountain, it stands out for dramatic relief, climbing about 3,700 feet in just 1.2 miles above the valley. Its summit offers broad views of landmarks including Mount Ritter and Banner Peak, and its waters drain into tributaries of Rush Creek. Pacific storms create an alpine climate here through orographic lift, bringing snow that has made the mountain a classic destination for eastern Sierra backcountry skiers. The peak was named for Roy Carson, founder of Silver Lake's first resort.
