Meridian Peak
Nature
Meridian Peak is a 12,432-foot mountain in Colorado’s Gore Range, standing in the Eagles Nest Wilderness on the divide between Eagle and Summit counties and between the White River and Arapaho national forests. At the southern end of the Elliot Ridge Trail, it is reached by a long backcountry approach through the Gore Range trail network rather than by a roadside route. Its position on a high drainage divide shapes its character as part of a rugged wilderness landscape. Today it is known chiefly as a hiking destination, reached by trails leading past Surprise Lake and Mirror Lake onto Elliot Ridge and up to the summit.
