Inspired by images found by searching “A Nature Megaphone Art Estonia,” Little Traverse Conservancy staff member Charles Dawley thought a nature megaphone would be a fun addition to an LTC nature preserve and held onto the idea for a couple of years before the Petoskey High School Building Trades class agreed to do the construction. Donated wood from The Home Depot helped make the project possible. The megaphone was completed in May, 2019, and placed in June. Its design amplifies sounds filtering into the opening and allows a person who crawls inside, lies still, and stays quiet to focus on the senses in a deeper way.
