Merriam Peak is a 10,920-foot mountain in Idaho’s White Cloud Mountains, near Castle Peak, the range’s highest summit, within the White Clouds roadless area of the Sawtooth National Recreation Area. Named for John H. Merriam, it honors his instrumental role in protecting this landscape from molybdenum mining. The peak rises among a cluster of alpine lakes, including Castle Lake at its southern base, Baker Lake to the east, and Noisy and Quiet lakes to the north and west. It is part of the Little Boulder Creek watershed, flowing to the East Fork of the Salmon River, and remains significant as protected high-country terrain.
