Calkins Peak is a prominent mountain in Idaho’s White Cloud Mountains within the Sawtooth National Recreation Area. At 11,487 feet, it is the range’s second-highest summit and the forty-sixth highest in the state. The peak stands near Castle Peak, White Cloud Peak 9, and D. O. Lee Peak, and rises above Slide, Sheep, and Tin Cup lakes in the surrounding alpine landscape. It has appeared under several variant names over time. Its current name honors prospector Stephen Calkins, whose lode claims linked the mountain to the mining history of the White Cloud country.
