The Cecil D. Andrus–White Clouds Wilderness is a federally protected 90,769-acre expanse in central Idaho’s Custer County that preserves part of the White Cloud Mountains within the Sawtooth region. Most of it is managed by the Sawtooth National Recreation Area in the Sawtooth National Forest, with a smaller section along the East Fork Salmon River overseen by the Bureau of Land Management. It entered the National Wilderness Preservation System on August 7, 2015, as the White Clouds Wilderness through legislation sponsored by Idaho congressman Mike Simpson and signed by President Barack Obama. In 2018, it was renamed to honor former governor Cecil D. Andrus for his longstanding role in Idaho public-land conservation.
