North Carter Mountain
Nature
North Carter Mountain is a summit in New Hampshire’s White Mountains, part of the Carter-Moriah Range along the northeastern side of Pinkham Notch. It stands between Imp Mountain and Middle Carter Mountain and rises above 4,000 feet. Despite that elevation, it is not counted by the Appalachian Mountain Club as a separate four-thousand-footer. Its status depends on topography rather than height alone, because the col between North Carter and Middle Carter drops only 60 feet. For that reason, North Carter is regarded as a secondary summit of Middle Carter Mountain instead of an independent peak.
