Middle Carter Mountain stands in Coos County, New Hampshire, within the Carter-Moriah Range of the White Mountains along the northern east side of Pinkham Notch. It lies between North Carter Mountain and South Carter Mountain. Although its wooded summit limits wide views from the very top, nearby points along the ridgecrest provide scenery. As part of the White Mountain National Forest, Middle Carter is also counted among New Hampshire’s four-thousand-footers, giving it special prominence as a destination for hikers exploring this section of the range.
