The Sleepers are two closely linked summits in New Hampshire’s White Mountains within the Sandwich Range Wilderness. East Sleeper rises to 3,855 feet and West Sleeper to 3,881 feet, with the Kate Sleeper Trail passing near both peaks. Their name honors Katherine “Kate” Sleeper Walden, a Wonalancet innkeeper who renovated the old Caleb Brown farm into Wonalancet Farm, promoted trails and community institutions, and supported land preservation later incorporated into the White Mountain National Forest. The peaks also mark a notable drainage divide, sending water toward the Gulf of Maine by different river systems. Among hikers, East Sleeper is the recognized summit on a major peak list, though West Sleeper is slightly taller.
