Here in 1871, the town and farm lots of Andrew Glassell IV and Alfred B. Chapman were offered to prospective buyers by the tract's resident agent, Captain William T. Glassell. Glassell maintained two seedling orange trees in front of his office-residence as curiosities to entice settlers.
