Norvin Green State Forest is a protected forest in northern New Jersey near the Wanaque Reservoir, spanning 5,416 acres across Bloomingdale, Ringwood, and West Milford. Part of the Northeastern coastal forests ecoregion and the Wyanokie Wilderness Area, it is accessible only on foot and is known for trails laid out on former logging roads. These routes climb ridges to about 1,300 feet and connect in places with nearby trail systems and reservoir property. Hikers encounter views of the Manhattan skyline, Wanaque Reservoir, Burnt Meadow Brook, and Lake Sonoma. Its rugged character reflects both conservation and its earlier use as a working landscape.
