The Lonesome Bachelor is a 9,192-foot mountain in western Montana’s Bitterroot Range, within the Rocky Mountains and the Selway–Bitterroot Wilderness. Managed as part of Bitterroot National Forest, it rises near Darby and is a prominent summit despite ranking 860th among Montana’s peaks. Como Peaks lies as its nearest higher neighbor. The mountain stands above steep terrain, climbing about 2,200 feet from the headwaters of Little Rock Creek in only half a mile, and water from its slopes ultimately reaches the Bitterroot River. Its name has been officially recognized by the United States Board on Geographic Names, and it is known today as a rugged wilderness summit.
