Tiger Mountain
Nature
Tiger Mountain, southeast of Seattle at the heart of the Issaquah Alps, is one of western Washington’s best-known outdoor landscapes. Much of the mountain lies within Tiger Mountain State Forest and the West Tiger Mountain Natural Resources Conservation Area, with trails leading across six peaks to sweeping views from West Tiger and the southern ridge. Its broad, gently graded paths reflect an industrial past, following former logging railroads from the 1920s, and the site of a fatal 1924 train wreck remains near Middle Tiger. On the mountain’s west side, Poo Poo Point grew from a logging clear-cut into the state’s most popular paragliding site.
