Cougar Mountain Regional Wildland Park in King County, Washington, was established in June 1983 to protect the central core of Cougar Mountain. The 3,115-acre park includes extensive hiking and equestrian trails across forested ridges, marshes, creeks, and former industrial land within the Mountains to Sound Greenway. Its horseshoe-shaped highlands collect the headwaters of Coal Creek and feed streams flowing toward Lake Washington and Lake Sammamish. The park also preserves traces of the area’s past, including mining exhibits near Red Town and the remains of a military site near AA Peak that served during World War II and later the Cold War.
