Constitution Crags is a prominent summit in Washington’s Okanogan Range, west of Silver Star Mountain near Washington Pass and the North Cascades Highway. Its significance lies less in absolute height than in its dramatic relief, rising nearly 2,700 feet above Early Winters Creek in about a mile. The peak drains into Early Winters Creek and the Methow River system, and stands within one of the Cascade Range’s most rugged landscapes. Formed largely of granite from the Golden Horn batholith, it was shaped by tectonic uplift, faulting, terrane accretion, and repeated Pleistocene glaciation. Its climate brings heavy snow, frequent winter cloudiness, and notable avalanche danger, while summer often reveals its steep granite profile clearly.
