Samuel Woods held Princeton's first school in his home in 1764. By 1830, Bullock's Stand, Richardson's Tavern, a blacksmith, wheel wright and shoe factory had been established. The Methodist Church was built in 1840, and the village became known as Methody Corners. By 1890, this location was known as Pratt's Corners for its many guest houses.
