Along the east and west borders of Tom's Creek were early mill and bridge sites including the Hashamomack Thomas Benedict Mill, probably the earliest John Payne Water Mill in 1659, Nathaniel Sylvester in 1667, the WM Albertson Mill and Bridge in 1795, the Town Bridge in 1855, the Benedict and Hallet Mill in 1855, David F. Conklin and Co. in the 1870s, and the Town Bridge from 1899 to 1926.
