Ipasha Glacier
Nature
Ipasha Glacier is a small glacier in Montana’s Glacier National Park, occupying a cirque southeast of Chaney Glacier and just east of the Continental Divide at elevations of about 8,000 to 7,600 feet. Its meltwater passes over Ipasha Falls before reaching Ipasha Lake, tying it closely to the surrounding alpine terrain. By 2005, the glacier covered about 52 acres, roughly one-third less area than in 1966. Its decline reflects the broader shrinkage affecting many of the park’s glaciers.
