Sawtooth Mountains Wilderness is a 32,136-acre federal wilderness area in the Sawtooth Mountains of eastern San Diego County, California, within the Colorado Desert south of Borrego Springs. Added to the National Wilderness Preservation System in 1994 through the California Desert Protection Act, it is managed by the Bureau of Land Management and lies near Anza-Borrego Desert State Park. Its ridges, valleys, and canyons create a compact but varied desert landscape that supports Sonoran Desert plants such as ocotillo, cholla cactus, and creosote bush, along with wildlife including golden eagles, prairie falcons, spotted bats, San Diego horned lizards, and willow flycatchers. Public access is limited to the Pepperwood Height Trail at the end of McCain Valley.
