Allegheny Mountain in Pennsylvania is a stratigraphic ridge in the central Appalachians rather than a single isolated summit. It extends along a northeast-to-southwest axis from south of Blue Knob to a saddle point at the Savage Mountain anticline. Near the Cambria County line, it merges with Negro Mountain where the Berlin-Salisbury basin ends. The Eastern Continental Divide enters the ridge south of Fraziers Pass, follows the Allegheny Backbone to the southwest, and then leaves the escarpment toward a saddle between the headwaters of Flaugherty Creek and Wills Creek before entering the Savage Mountain anticline.
