Arrow Peak
Nature
Arrow Peak is a 13,809-foot mountain in southwestern Colorado’s Grenadier Range, within the San Juan Mountains and the Weminuche Wilderness. One of Colorado’s higher summits, it ranks 123rd in the state and 182nd in the United States. Along with nearby peaks such as Vestal Peak and Mount Garfield, it forms part of a rugged cluster known for steep, rocky terrain. Its metamorphic quartzite gives the mountain a sharp, hard character that has made it a notable mountaineering objective. William Cooper and John Hubbard made the first recorded American ascent in 1908, and a harder route was climbed in 1932 by Carleton Long and John Nelson.
