Peekamoose Mountain is a Catskill peak in Ulster County, New York, within the Slide Mountain Wilderness of Catskill State Park. Beside Table Mountain to the north, it is crossed by the Long Path route between New York City and Albany. Its name is thought to anglicize an Algonquin term meaning “broken off smooth,” preserving an older Indigenous naming tradition in the region. The mountain also forms part of the Rondout Creek watershed: its eastern and southeastern slopes drain directly to the creek, while other sides feed it through Buttermilk Falls Brook and Bear Hole Brook, with those waters eventually reaching the Hudson River and New York Bay.
