Frank Lloyd Wright’s Gordon House, completed in 1963 for Conrad and Evelyn Gordon, is a two-story Usonian design and the only publicly accessible Wright house in the Pacific Northwest. Based on Wright’s 1938 Life magazine “dream house” concept, it was adapted for the Gordons’ Oregon property from surveys and photographs rather than a site visit. Cost delays postponed construction, which was finished under Burton Goodrich after Wright’s death. After Evelyn Gordon died in 1997, the house faced demolition, but a preservation effort led to its relocation to the Oregon Garden in 2001 and its public opening in 2002.
