Lone Eagle Peak is a 11,946-foot summit in the Indian Peaks of Colorado’s Front Range, within the Rocky Mountains and the Indian Peaks Wilderness of Arapaho National Forest. It lies about 12.4 miles north-northeast of Fraser. The mountain’s present name honors Charles Lindbergh, drawing on his nickname “Lone Eagle.” Before that, it was known by earlier names including Lindbergh Peak and Mount Lindbergh. The name Lone Eagle Peak was officially adopted in 1961, linking the mountain’s identity to one of the most famous aviators of the twentieth century.
