Hazen's Notch State Park
Nature
Hazen's Notch State Park is a 307-acre park in Westfield, Vermont, occupying the height of land at a mountain pass in the northern Green Mountains along Vermont Route 58. It preserves an unusually undeveloped mountain landscape where recreation remains low-key, with hunting, hiking, bird watching, snowshoeing, and sections of the Long Trail. A major part of its significance is the 273-acre Hazen's Notch Natural Area, whose serpentine cliffs support rare alpine and serpentine-adapted plants, giving the site special botanical importance. Peregrine falcons have also nested here, and management focuses on protecting these natural resources while maintaining undeveloped outdoor use.
