Francis Peak, in Utah’s Wasatch Range on the border of Davis and Morgan counties north of Salt Lake City, is a prominent northern Wasatch summit with broad valley views. Named for Esther Charlotte Emily Weisbrodt Francis, an early pioneer linked to the colonization of Morgan Valley, it connects the region’s landscape to its settlement history. The mountain is reached by rugged seasonal routes from Bountiful and Farmington and is known for steep, rocky roads, trails, ponds, camping, wildlife, and open vistas. Its summit is especially distinctive for domed radar towers built in 1959 and operated by the Federal Aviation Administration and the Air National Guard, which also contributed to disputes over its measured elevation.
