Harriton Farm is the northwest corner of a 698 acre estate acquired by Richard Harrison in 1719 and known as Harriton. The farm was cleared in the early nineteenth century and became the site from which the entire estate was managed. In this period, Harriton supported several farms and enterprises including a dairy, a saw and grist mill, a blacksmith shop, peach orchards and a horse farm. Several of the buildings and landscapes created by these activities remain on the Harriton Farm site and document changes in a family's use of land, since part of Harriton Farm is still held by Harrison's descendants.
