Phillips Covered Bridge, southeast of Montezuma in Parke County, Indiana, crosses Rocky Run and was built in 1909 by Joseph A. Britton. Unlike the county’s more typical Burr Arch covered bridges, it is a rare single-span, four-segment King Post truss with no arches. Also known as the Arabia Covered Bridge, it preserves links to the former Little Arabia community, nearby Arabia Church, Arabia Cemetery, and the prominent Phillips family, who owned surrounding land in 1908. After the shorter Weisner Covered Bridge was lost in 1957, Phillips became Parke County’s shortest covered bridge and its only surviving non-Burr Arch example.
