Kent Falls State Park centers on Kent Falls, a dramatic series of waterfalls on Falls Brook near Kent, Connecticut, where the water drops 250 feet in less than a quarter mile before reaching the Housatonic River. Long known by the Indigenous name Scatacook, the area shows evidence of Native American fishing and camping, and later supported colonial mills tied to the local economy. Protected for its scenery, the park was established when 200 acres were donated to the state in 1919 by Alain C. White through the White Memorial Foundation. Later improvements added trails, observation platforms, and access for hiking, fishing, picnicking, and wading.
