Bakke Mountain is a summit in the town of Florida in northwestern Massachusetts, named for Master Sergeant Roald Bakke, who died in the collapse of Texas Tower 4. The mountain is part of a roughly 700 to 750 acre property whose landscape changed markedly over time. Land once used as the Tower family's turnip farm and for small livestock grazing, with open fields, meadows, and rock walls, gradually reverted to forest after the Bakke family bought it in the 1960s. The mountain is significant for both conservation work, including wildlife and forest management, and energy development as a primary site of the Hoosac Wind Project and the Bakke Mountain Wind Farm.
