Built circa 1925 in the Colonial Revival style, this home was first owned by Henry and Lena Nollar and was distinguished by a side-gabled clipped roof, a centered portico supported by Tuscan columns, and an arched entry. Henry Good, a major logging contractor in northwestern Montana whose first wife died in the 1918 influenza epidemic, bought the property with his second wife, Alice, in October 1926. Good also operated a farm north of Kalispell that was considered an area showcase, and this house served as the couple’s in-town residence. They lived here periodically and rented it in their absence until Henry’s death in 1944. Alice Good, whom Henry married in 1920, had taught in the Kalispell public schools before her marriage and was known as a gifted musician and artist; her 1953 obituary recalled, “Even before she could talk, she sang….” The interior retains beautifully figured gumwood doors and woodwork, and the second floor reflects architect Fred Brinkman’s mid-1930s remodeling.
