In Las Vegas, the Liberace Museum Collection preserves the flamboyant world of entertainer and pianist Władziu Valentino Liberace through costumes, jewelry, pianos, automobiles, personal artifacts, and philanthropic awards. Created through the Liberace Foundation for the Creative and Performing Arts, founded in 1976 and endowed with the collection and $4 million, it supported Liberace’s goal of helping young musicians. The museum opened in 1979, expanded into one of Nevada’s busiest attractions, and funded 2,700 scholarships totaling more than $6 million. After the original site closed in 2010, the collection continued in new venues, still reflecting Liberace’s extravagant public image and charitable legacy.
