Mount Neva
Nature
Mount Neva is a 12,849-foot summit in Grand County, Colorado, and the state's 752nd-highest peak. Named for Chief Niwot’s brother, it reflects the Indigenous history of the Front Range. A common modern approach begins at the Fourth of July trailhead west of Nederland, starting relatively easily before becoming much more serious along the north ridge. The final climb includes long stretches of class 4 scrambling and climbing with significant vertical exposure, making the upper route far more demanding than an ordinary hike. Mount Neva also lies in an alpine subarctic climate, with cold snowy winters, cool to warm summers, year-round precipitation, and frequent summer thunderstorms.
