The first Franklin village church was organized in 1840 by Reverend Laban Smith. A building was constructed on German Mill Street and dedicated in 1863. This sanctuary was dedicated in 1956. United Methodist in affiliation and ecumenical in spirit, it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places with the National Park Service, U.S. Department of the Interior, and is dedicated to the memory of all church members who have entered the Church Triumphant.
