Mount Starr King is a mountain in northern New Hampshire in the Pliny Range of the White Mountains, situated between Mount Waumbek and Haystack Mountain. Named for Thomas Starr King, who lived from 1824 to 1864, it drains by local brooks into the Israel River, then the Connecticut River, and ultimately Long Island Sound. The mountain also became the center of an unbuilt mid-1960s ski resort proposal called the Willard Basin Ski Area. Plans envisioned an aerial tramway on its northern slope and a hotel on the summit, but the development was never realized.
