Stillwater State Park is a 57-acre recreation area on Lake Groton in Groton, Vermont, within Groton State Forest. Developed in 1938 by Civilian Conservation Corps crews on state forest land first acquired in 1919, it was planned around camping, picnicking, swimming, boating, and trail access. The CCC also helped build Route 232, improving access to this part of the forest, and laid out roads, picnic grounds, and campground loops whose basic arrangement still defines the park. Later expansions in the late 1960s kept its historic character, and its surviving CCC-era buildings and structures earned it listing on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002.
