The Raupp Museum in Buffalo Grove, Illinois preserves the community’s social history from early settlement through suburban growth. Rooted in the legacy of founding family member Melchoir Raupp, the museum grew from a 1964 land and farmhouse donation by his descendants, though the original house burned in 1972. A replacement building donated by the Levitt Company was moved to its present site in 1975, and the museum opened on September 16, 1979. Expanded over time, it now holds more than 3,000 local artifacts in interactive galleries covering Potawatomi presence, farm families, business life, and Buffalo Grove’s transformation from a German dairy farming settlement into a postwar suburb.
