Cache Col is a high alpine pass in Washington’s North Cascades, between Magic Mountain and Mix-up Peak at the upper end of Cache Glacier near Cascade Pass. On the boundary of North Cascades National Park and the Glacier Peak Wilderness, it divides both rugged basins and major watersheds, with runoff flowing north toward the Stehekin River and south into the Cascade River. Its position on a glacier and sharp ridge makes it a true mountain pass. Cache Col and Cache Glacier are important to mountaineers as the northern end of the Ptarmigan Traverse, providing access to remote peaks and country shaped by snow, moisture, and glacial erosion.
