Crum Hill, a 2,841-foot mountain in the Hoosac Range of northwestern Massachusetts, spans the towns of Monroe and Florida. It is the highest point in Franklin County and the highest geologic point of the Berkshires, a distinction often wrongly given to Mount Greylock. Rising above the Hoosic River Valley east of North Adams, its summit is in Monroe and its western slope descends into Florida. Its waters flow through Dunbar Brook, the Cold River, and smaller streams to the Deerfield River, then the Connecticut River and Long Island Sound. Today, the mountain supports both recreation, with trails maintained by the Florida Mountaineers, and regional energy through the Hoosac Wind Power Project at its summit.
