Atlantic Peak is a 12,495-foot mountain in Wyoming’s southern Wind River Range, standing on the Continental Divide just southeast of West Atlantic Peak. It rises in a high, rugged part of the range where steep cliffs and loose rock make travel dangerous. More broadly, the Wind River Range has long presented serious backcountry hazards, including bears, insects, wildfires, difficult snow conditions, and very cold nights, along with fatal accidents caused by falls and rockfall. Together these features make Atlantic Peak part of a notably harsh and hazardous mountain landscape.
