Temple Peak is a 12,977-foot mountain in Wyoming’s southern Wind River Range, standing in the Bridger Wilderness of Bridger-Teton National Forest. A little more than a mile southwest of East Temple Peak, it is part of a cluster of prominent alpine summits in one of the state’s most rugged and remote mountain regions. Its landscape is marked by steep rock, wilderness terrain, and the broad backcountry character of the southern Winds. The area also presents serious mountain hazards, including bears, insects, wildfires, snow, sharp nighttime cold, and a history of accidents and fatalities from falls on steep class 4 and 5 terrain and from rockfall.
