Along the Fox River, the Neshnabek, the “People” of the Valley, were among the first voices in this land. They lived in peace with nature, hunted and fished, raised families, died in their appointed time, and loved the Valley so deeply that the bones of their people mingle with its earth. In time, settlers became many while they were few, and with great sadness they had to leave their home. Yet the spirits of their ancestors never left the Valley, remaining along the shores of the beloved Fox River, with a final prayer that those who came after would love the Valley as much as they did.
