Courthouse Falls is a waterfall on Courthouse Creek in Pisgah National Forest near Balsam Grove in western North Carolina. Below Devil’s Courthouse, the creek drops through a narrow chute into a natural bedrock amphitheater whose rock walls and enclosed basin give the site a sheltered, bowl-like character unlike many open mountain cascades. Local geology shapes both the confined channel above the drop and the basin below. Reached by a moderately difficult trail from NC 215 and Forest Road 140, the falls are open to the public and are especially well known for pairing a relatively short hike with a striking natural setting in an area rich with other waterfalls.
