Middle Road Covered Bridge spans Conneaut Creek in Conneaut, Ohio, about 3.2 miles south of downtown, carrying Middle Road on a northwest-to-southeast line. Built in 1868 as a single-span Howe truss, it reflects a widely used 19th-century design for durable wooden covered bridges. At 136 feet long, it has a notable presence over the creek. The bridge is one of Ashtabula County’s 16 drivable covered bridges and remains part of one of Ohio’s best-known groupings of historic covered bridges. Its reconstruction in 1984, aided by volunteers and college students, shows the community’s commitment to preserving this local bridge heritage.
