Hugh Faris Russell was a pioneer trustee of Oak Ridge Chapel, and his grandsire, Joseph Russell, a convert of John Wesley, was disinherited for conscience sake and driven from his native shore of Isle of Kail, County Down, Ireland, in A.D. 1787. This humble house of worship, originally built on Bristle Ridge in A.D. 1871, was restored and rededicated in A.D. 1923.
