Rio Grande Pyramid
Nature
Rio Grande Pyramid is a 13,827-foot peak in the San Juan Mountains of southwestern Colorado, in the Weminuche Wilderness of the San Juan National Forest northeast of Durango. As part of one of Colorado’s largest and wildest mountain regions, it occupies a notably remote setting created by its location within designated wilderness. Its name reflects both its pyramidal shape and its association with the Rio Grande country of the San Juans, and it stands out as one of the recognizable high summits in this part of the state.
