Pine Brook Covered Bridge, also called the Wilder Covered Bridge, carries North Road over Pine Brook in northern Waitsfield, Vermont. Built in 1872, it is one of the town’s two surviving 19th-century covered bridges and still serves the local road system. Its significance lies especially in its two king post trusses, a rare design among Vermont’s historic covered bridges that survives in only one other such bridge in the state. The wooden structure rests on stone abutments later faced in concrete and has vertical board siding and a standing-seam metal roof. After deterioration by the 1970s, it underwent major repairs in 1976, and its deck was replaced in 1989.
